Annual meeting of the DFG Forschergruppe FOR790 "Classification of Algebraic Surfaces and Compact Complex Manifolds"

Title: Generic orbifold semi-positivity and a criterion for bigness of the log-canonical bundle
Abstract: We define the notion of cotangent bundle for orbifold pairs, and show their generic semi-positivity in the log-canonical case, provided the canonical bundle is pseudo-effective. From this we deduce a statement conjectured by E. Viehweg: a quasi-projective manifold is of log-general type if some tensor power of its log-contangent bundle contains a big line bundle.
