My main research interests are motivated from conformal field theory,
quantum field theory and string theory, addressing their connections
to algebraic geometry, geometry in general, and analysis. Many of my
research results are concerned with the moduli space of two
dimensional unitary conformal field theories with central charge c=6
and N=(4,4) supersymmetry whose classical limits are described by K3
surfaces. More recent research projects deal with the algebraic
geometry of elliptically fibered CalabiYau varieties and with
topological field theories. The latter will be a main focus of
research at my chair for the next few years since my
Starting
Independent Researcher Grant has allowed me to build
up a larger research team devoted to this topic. I am also a PI
in the DFG Research Training Group GRK 1821
Cohomological Methods in Geometry,
which was launched on October 1, 2012.
