Mathematical CV: Prof. Dr. Katrin Wendland

Diploma (Mathematics)

October 1996: completion of my diploma thesis as a member of Prof. Werner Müller's Global Analysis group at the University of Bonn
topic: regularized determinants, Ray-Singer analytic torsion and Quillenmetric, particularly their dependence on the metric ("Analytic Torsion and Critical Metrics")
Together with more recent work the main results are published in two joint papers with Prof. Werner Müller.

Ph.D. (Physics)

Sep 2000: Ph.D. in theoretical physics in Prof. Werner Nahm's group at the University of Bonn
topic: Moduli spaces of unitary conformal field theories
The main results can be found in three publications, partly in collaboration with Prof. Werner Nahm and Dr. Sayipjamal Dulat.

Post Doc

2000 - 2002: postdoc in Prof. Louise Dolan's group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UNC Chapel Hill
organizer of the UNC part of our joint Duke/UNC String Theory Seminar
In my doctoral studies, among other topics I have investigated the embedding of orbifold conformal field theories within the moduli space of theories associated to K3. Afterwards, I generalized these results and applied them in the context of mirror symmetry, click here for more details.

2005-2006: Senior Lecturer at the Mathematics Institute of the University of Warwick
Aug-Dec 2004: visiting research scholar in the Math/Physics Research Group of the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia
2005-2006: on leave from the University of Warwick as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the UNC Chapel Hill

01.08.2006: Full Professor (W3) at the Mathematics Institute of the University of Augsburg, holding the Chair for Analysis and Geometry
01.08.2008: Associate Fellow of the Mathematics Institute of the University of Warwick
21.08.2010: Invited sectional speaker in Mathematical Physics at the International Congress of Mathematicians 2010 in Hyderabad, India
01.04.2011: Full Professor (W3) at the Mathematics Institute of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, research group for Mathematical Physics
01.01.2013: Fellow of the American Mathematical Society in Recognition of Distinguished Contributions to the Profession
28.06.2013: Elected Full Member of the Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur Mainz

A summary of my math/physics activities since 2002 can be found here.
